Mònica Guilera

Monica learnt basketmaking in the Catalan tradition combining willow and split European cane, with over 17 years of making and teaching experience she has a wide repertoire and enjoys designing contemporary functional baskets. One of Monica’s specialities is the Nansa fishtrap technique that has been used by fisherman around the Mediterranean since ancient times, with deep roots and a modern sensibility Monica’s work explores colour, form and pattern ideal for the contemporary home.

Mònica work has been exhibited widely in Europe with contributions to recent exhibitions in Finland, Germany, Denmark and France, as an experienced tutor she teaches internationally and her workshops are always in demand.
